Isaac and Summer

We are from Johnson City, TN. I am a Nurse Practitioner and Isaac is a firefighter. We have been married for 7 years. We started trying to get pregnant 4 years ago and find ourselves still trying.

I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2018, I ended up losing weight and my doctor doesn’t think that PCOS is still a factor in our infertility. In 2019 I had surgery where they removed an endometrial polyp. They thought that the polyp could be contributing to our infertility, but we still have not gotten pregnant.

Other than those things, all our labs and other tests have been completely normal. At this point we are told that we have unexplained infertility. 

Our treatment so far has included six medicated cycles with timed intercourse. None of those resulted in pregnancy. 

We moved on to a fertility clinic. Our first IUI failed. We prepared for our second IUI with oral and injectable medications, at our follicle check scan we found out my ovaries had been overstimulated resulting in OHSS. At this point we have decided to step back and take a break from treatments and keep trying naturally. We need a chance to recover physically, emotionally, and financially.

We have considered IVF and adoption, but those are very expensive, and we are not at a point where these are feasible options financially.Infertility has been a long difficult chapter that we are continuing to navigate through daily, but we are confident that the Lord has a plan for us that will blow our minds! For a very long time infertility was not something we discussed and was a very sore subject but has helped us communicate better in our marriage and helped us to become stronger! I will be very honest; it is an overwhelming thought that financially we may never be able to afford our dream of becoming parents, but we remain hopeful that one day we will have our miracle.
