My name is Caitlin Locke, and my husband is Bradley. We have been married since 2012 and praying to expand our family! I had always wanted to be a mama.
Our journey started in 2016 after I graduated from PA school! We were ready to start a family. Months went by, and nothing was happening. I knew in my heart God was preparing me for something bigger. I knew we had a problem, but I did not want to diagnose it myself as a clinician.
In November of 2017, I went to see my OBGYN. She recommended medication therapy and iui’s. In 2018, we did two IUI’s and both failed. We were heartbroken. We desperately desired to be parents.
During this time of IUI, we went to a well known fertility specialist in Louisville, KY who essentially said nothing was wrong, but we needed to keep trying.
After our failed IUI in May, I made an appointment with Nashville Fertility. Our first appointment was June 7, 2018. I’ll never forget that day. I hate being the patient, but the reality was we needed IVF.
We prepared for IVF with procedures, blood work, and many prayers. In August 2018, I began the stimulation cycle. I had a very successful IVF stimulation.
November 5, 2018 we transferred what medical personnel would consider a “perfect” embryo. Graded 4AA. It was a GIRL. We were ecstatic.
I remember after the transfer going back into the room while we waited. My husband and I wept praising God for this miracle. We prayed over this blessing and claimed victory over the situation. I was finally a mama. My husband was a daddy. Our story would never be the same.
We now have an almost 17 month old, happy and healthy baby girl. Addison Grace has changed our lives and we could not be more thankful for Jesus providing our blessing.
Infertility is not a “one size fits all” problem. It’s a long journey. It’s hard. It is isolating yourself because of the pain. Our story doesn’t end there. Jesus created life. He created our girl who is absolutely perfect. We are so thankful, honored, and blessed to be her parents!
We are praying for each of you who are walking this journey. It is not easy, but it is so worth it.
